The Libertarian Party Medical Freedom Caucus believes in the inherent right of individuals to make informed decisions about their health, medical care, and bodily autonomy without coercive interference from the government. We advocate for a healthcare system that prioritizes patient choice, transparent information, and access to a full spectrum of medical treatments. Our platform is built on the foundation of liberty, personal responsibility, and the non-aggression principle, aiming to foster a society where individuals are free to pursue their health and wellness paths.
Right to Choose: Individuals have the inherent right to select their healthcare, treatments, and procedures based on their personal beliefs and needs.
Opposing Government Overreach: Government mandates and restrictions on healthcare choices are an infringement on personal autonomy and liberty.
Standard of Care: Informed consent is inherently tied to bodily autonomy and is considered the standard of care. It involves providing patients with vital information, including potential risks and benefits regarding a medical procedure, treatment, genetic testing, or clinical trial. Full disclosure of these risks is essential. The ability to decline without force or coercion is crucial for proper informed consent. Informed consent is a competition-rich process in which the patient can choose whether the medical procedure is right for them, weighing the risks and selecting the doctors they believe are the most qualified. If one chooses to decline a medical intervention there can not be subsequent infringement of the right to life, liberty, property, and the pursuit of happiness. These are constitutional rights that can not be infringed.Informed consent is a fundamental principle of medical care in the US. Every individual has the right to accept or decline any medical intervention without coercion.
Personal Decision Making: People have the right to choose medical procedures or care providers that align with their best interests.
Foundational Protections: The Declaration of Independence and 14th Amendment protect the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, encompassing the freedom to make personal medical choices.
Rejecting Unconstitutional Interference: Any governmental interference with these rights is unconstitutional.
Limiting Bureaucratic Power: The Federal Government must not delegate unconstitutional powers to agencies like the HHS, CDC, FDA, and WHO.
Explicit Constitutional Protection: Advocate for a 28th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution that explicitly protects medical freedom, ensuring that no government entity can impede individual medical choices or privacy.
A child’s parents have the sole authority to exercise the child’s rights on the child’s behalf in the child’s best interests, which authority may only be abrogated if a parent acts unquestionably against the child’s interest, beyond a reasonable doubt.
Sovereignty Over One’s Body: The right to govern one’s body without coercion or force.
Opposing Medical Mandates: Strong opposition to all mandates and forced vaccinations, declaring them a violation of individual rights.
Freedom to Choose Treatments: Individuals should have unrestricted access to alternative treatments, therapies, and healthcare providers.
Patient-Provider Autonomy: Healthcare decisions should be made exclusively between patients and their chosen healthcare providers without government interference.
Promoting a Free-Market Healthcare System: Support a free-market healthcare system that encourages competition and innovation.
Patients should have the right to access alternative and experimental treatments that they believe could improve their health or quality of life, without excessive governmental restrictions.
Opposing Vaccine Databases: Strong opposition to the creation and maintenance of any government or private vaccine databases.
Ensuring Privacy Protection: Protect individual privacy and medical freedom by preventing the tracking and recording of vaccination status.
